Music and Art
I’ve been a musician for over 25 years, many of which were spent touring and performing on the road, and I have recorded, produced, and mixed numerous albums. More recently I’ve pursued an interest in stage design, lighting, and video fx.
My talents in music and performance have integrated with other arts media. I was co-founder of the Callosum Collective art group which fostered various multimedia projects and put on several large scale events. The collaborative nature of this group established great working relationships between artists and propelled a lot of innovative ideas.

Flamingo Shadow
Active since 2015, this project has been described as art-pop and tropical-punk, and is well known locally for our vibrant live shows.
In addition to playing guitar, bass, and keyboards, I program and run our Ableton Live set and light show, and record, produce, and mix the band.

Our performance of “Synaesthesia II” at Atlanta’s Goat Farm featuring 25 guitarists and over 60 lighting fixtures
Color-Tone Drone
In 2013 and 2014 I composed for and directed performances using color as a means for conducting. Large ensembles of guitarists were assembled to perform compositions by sounding notes indicated by color-changing LED orbs.
By color-coding players’ fretboards and having them strum along with the changing hues of a programmed light fixture, a long-form musical composition could be performed without the need for notated music and with limited rehearsal. This method provides an audio-visual association between pitch, color, and their harmonies for the spectator.

ROAM Transmissions
Audio Zine Engineer
From 2010-2016 I was a part of a team producing an ongoing series of collaborative podcast-style “audio zines.” Each episode centered around a theme and brought together music and field recordings submitted by participants from all over the world. I digitally stitched together each round of submissions we got into a cohesive listen.
Events Technical Director
In 2015 ROAM received a grant from Idea Capital to put on an event called “The Cryptophonic Tour” at Atlanta’s Oakland Cemetery. We selected a number of Atlanta artists to present sound pieces and perform at specific gravesites throughout the day. I was technical director for the event and made sure everything went off without a hitch.
Later that year we were hired for Scout Mob’s annual Halloween party to stage an auditory haunted house featuring our “Are You Afraid of the ROAM?” episode. Party-goers were seated in a dark theater-like room and enjoyed a terrifying surround-sound and light experience that was billed as a “horror movie for your ears.” I did the surround mix, programmed the lights, and ran the screamings- er, screenings.

SPELEOGEN
A collaborative art-making venture that teamed together artists working in different media (photography, music, writing, video) to produce a suite of interrelated pieces that had been provoked by encounters with caves.
The team made several excursions to caves in and around the southeast and would report on our findings through artistic means.
A sound piece I made using only recordings from an excursion to Ruby Falls, an underground waterfall, in Tennessee

The Squall
In June 2015 Theater Emory invited Callosum Collective to develop a new performance concept as part of the Breaking Ground Workshop Series.
We spent five days interpreting The Tempest, one of Shakespeare's strangest and most beautiful works, and we invited the public to experience the results of this weeklong workshop process in a presentation of our work-in-progress The Squall.
I was technical director, sound designer, and lighting tech for the dramatic performance.

Little Francis
A folk/punk/rocknroll band I spent a number of years in as bass player and wine drinker.
The ‘Marigolds’ video is for a song off of our 2018 album I Will Sink Like All Good Things which was recorded and mixed by yours truly.

BØATING
A mostly improvised psychedelic-jazz quartet known for playing upwards of 3 hours straight. I played guitar and keys and recorded the band.
At one point we performed a live score to a mutated version of a certain Kevin Costner belly-flop and dubbed the event Wetwürld.
